EXCELLENCE AWARDS

MISSION STATEMENT

Silak recognizes leadership and academic excellence to inspire the Romblomanon youth, the hope of the province, to excel and to help mould them to be productive and responsive community leaders.

MEDAL RECIPIENTS

The Silak Medal for Academic Excellence is awarded to Romblomanon high school Valedictorians and Salutatorians, or in the case of a school that does not give such distinctions, its top two graduates.

The Silak Medal for Leadership Excellence is awarded to the Romblomanon high school graduate with the most outstanding leadership record in his high school years in a particular school. It will be based on the achievements of the student as a leader of various student, youth, religious, governmental and/or non-governmental organizations. Selection is left to the school administration.

COURSE OF ACTION

Silak provides support and encouragement to the awardees to continue the quest for academic excellence and their involvement in various organizations through leadership training seminars, continuous monitoring and further recognitions.

Joseph F. Fadri is the Schools Division Superintendent of Romblon. He has been an educator for almost forty years.

He started out as a classroom teacher in Banton in 1964 where he was promoted to Head Teacher ten years later. He was appointed principal in 1978 and District Supervisor in 1986. He became Asst. Superintendent in 1991 serving his home province and later on, Batangas province. He became the Schools Division Superintendent of Romblon in 1997 and served the Division of Oriental Mindoro until February, 2005.
He graduated at the Philippine Normal College with a bachelor’s degree in education and finished his Master of Arts in Industrial Education at the Technological University of the Philippines.

He co-established the Tungonan Barangay High School (Banton) and established the Tugdan National High School (Alcantara), Calatrava National High (Calatrava) and the Don Carlos Mejia Memorial National High School. He was also responsible for the separation of the Cubulutan National High School (San Agustin) and Tanagan National High School (San Andres) from the Romblon College of Forestry and Fishery. Finally, he started the implementation of the Third Elementary Education project (TEEP) which brought about the construction of several school buildings and the Romblon Division Office.

Lyndon F. Fadri is the Executive Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer of Feliciano F. Miravite, Inc., an actuarial consulting firm, and an independent actuarial consultant for life insurance, pre-need and health care. He is formerly the First Vice-President and Chief Actuary of Great Pacific Life Insurance Co.; the Vice-President and Actuary of Sony Life Insurance (Philippines), Inc.; and a Sr. Assistant Vice-President at Insular Life Assurance Co., Ltd.

He is a fellow of the Actuarial Society of the Philippines and an associate of the Society of Actuaries (North America). A scholar of the Department of Science and Technology, he graduated from the University of Santo Tomas with a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, magna cum laude. He was consistently on the top of his class and graduated valedictorian from Banton Central School and Banton High School where he was also a COCOFED scholar. He placed fifth in the Civil Service Examination Sub-Professional Level in 1989 and topped the NCEE in the Division of Romblon with a rating of 99+.

He is presently the Chairman of the Board of Silak it Bantoanon, Inc. and the Banton 2003 Project and Vice-President of the Romblon Discussion List – Cultural, Livelihood and Educational Assistance for Romblon (Philippines). He is formerly a Kabataang Barangay Municipal Federation chairman and member of the Sangguniang Bayan of Banton. He has also been an active leader in other Bantoanon undertakings.
